Good morning everyone! It’s a great morning for us here, as we get to say thank you to Kenley Leigh at Beyond the Green Door for giving The Humble Foodie a Very Inspiring Blogger Award. Kenley blogs about creating a warm and welcoming home space through decorating, cooking, entertaining, and more. We are honored to accept this award and pass it on to some of our favorite inspiring blogs.
With this lovely award comes the following responsibilities:
1. Display the award certificate on your website.
2. Announce your win with a post and include a link to whoever presented your award.
3. Present 7 awards to deserving bloggers. Create a post linking to them and drop them a comment to tip them off.
4. Post 7 interesting facts about yourself.
Kerry’s favorite color is purple, and Alicia’s is red.
Alicia’s favorite dessert is anything involving chocolate (very little discrimination here) and Kerry’s is oreo dessert, a family recipe.
We dreamed up this blog while on a bus ride from Minnesota to Illinois with our friend Devin.
All three of us have been to or lived in Italy.
Yesterday, Alicia took a trip to Mitsuwa Marketplace- the largest Japanese market in the U.S.- and is thrilled to try making sushi with her new roommate Emily!
Devin is learning to cook under the close tutelage of her roommate and we are totally proud. Maybe we can convince her to share some recipes…
The music playing while I write this blog post includes “Stars Are Blind” by Paris Hilton. No accounting for taste on the iPod shuffle.
And with that, we’d like to give the Very Inspiring Blog Award to the following bloggers:
Cat of Things My Belly Likes: Cat is always posting mouth-watering, approachable recipes for all kinds of food. She is also a supportive and friendly fellow blogger!
Kristen of The Frugal Girl: Kristen’s blog is one of the few I have read consistently for a couple years. Her lifestyle is very different from mine, but her cheer and compassion are wonderful reminders to live life to the fullest.
Russ of The Domestic Man: Featured on Russ’s blog are recipes spanning different cultures and types of cuisine, all accompanied by simple and beautiful photographs. His story is particularly inspiring.
Laken of Farmhouse: I really enjoy Laken’s budding series called Tend: field notes on keeping house. In her description of those reinventing the notion of homemaking, she writes, “We want to lead real, authentic lives in spaces that reflect our best selves.” Everyone can take inspiration from that regardless of gender, place, or personal circumstances.
Michelle of Nom Nom Paleo: I know NNP has received much more prestigious awards than this one, but Michelle’s drool-worthy food porn is a daily encouragement to get into the kitchen and try new things. She also has an iPad app that looks amazing!
“Hurley” of Belle Grove Plantation Bed and Breakfast: Michelle and Brett are opening a B&B in my home state, and have been writing about their tireless efforts to furnish the house in a beautiful southern style while researching the plantation’s history. The recent posts by Hurley, a golden retriever, have been cracking me up.
Things We Forget: Last but certainly not least, Things We Forget is a daily dose of inspiration left as Post-It Notes in public places. I’d love to find one someday!
Thanks again to Kenley for her kind award, and I hope you’ll enjoy reading some of these inspiring blogs!
