Remember my reference to Oreo Dessert in my bio? Well, this is your lucky day! Although this is a special recipe, I am willing to share it with all of you. After all, we’re friends…right?
My grandma began making this recipe when my dad was little. A childhood favorite, it soon became the “go to” dessert for our family gatherings as well. She easily pleased eleven wild grandchildren with this dessert! She has since passed on, we continue to enjoy this dessert with loved ones. I have yet to meet someone who hasn’t instantly fallen in love with it!
54 oreos (44, then 10)
2/3 cup butter
1/2 gallon vanilla ice cream
4 squares unsweetened bakers chocolate
1 cup sugar
1 1/3 cups evaporated milk
1 1/2 cups Cool Whip (approximately 1 small container)
Crush 44 oreos in a food processor until they are big crumbs. Melt 2/3 cup butter and mix with crumbs. Once combined, spread on the bottom of a 13 X 9 pan. Press down oreos until they form a thick layer on the bottom.
While the ice cream is freezing, it’s time to make the fudge! Over medium heat, melt bakers chocolate, sugar, and evaporated milk. Continue to stir. Once thickened, remove from heat and let cool. Then, spread evenly over ice cream. Freeze for at least one hour.
