One of my family’s staple recipes is “Crispix Mix!” I have loved it since as long as I can remember. During every Thanksgiving and Memorial Day weekend celebration, I remember my mom always making it-the perfect snack! In high school after learning what a simple recipe it was, I began making it myself. It quickly became the main snack of badminton meets in high school and tailgating at U of I football games. My family and I soon had the reputation of the chex mix cooks!
This simple concoction always satisfies everyone’s taste buds. The tangy coating makes this mix of chex, crackers, and pretzels to die for!
Makes 13 cups
10 cups chex
1 1/2 cup pretzels
1 1/2 cups cheese crackers
1/4 cup vegetable oil
2 oz ranch salad dressing seasoning mix
2 plastic garbage bags
1 mint for post snacking breath 🙂
Preheat the oven to 275 degrees. Mix together the chex, pretzels, and cheese crackers in a 9 X 11 rectangular pan. Pour 1/4 cup oil over the mix and stir.
Bake in the oven for 15 minutes. When the time is up, stir and bake for another 10 minutes. To mix in the seasoning, you will need 2 plastic garbage bags. Put one bag inside the other. Pour in the ranch seasoning packet.Pour the chex mix into the plastic bag. Put on your favorite song and shake until well seasoned. 🙂 Voila!
