Blog Roundup: Alicia’s Favorite Food Blogs

The delicious (and enormous) chocolate cake Kerry & Alicia first made together! - Recipe from Annie's Eats

A large part of our inspiration for starting this blog was the many food blogs we admire. Despite our limited budgets, we can certainly appreciate the skillful photography, writing, and kitchen wizardry that goes on at our favorite blogs. Some of our posts feature recipes from these fantastic sites, so go ahead and check them out. If you see anything that looks particularly delicious, send us the link! Maybe we’ll try it out and let you know how we fare.

Annie’s Eats

There are some people in this world who seem to be capable of doing a million things at once while making this balancing act appear effortless. Annie is one of those people. While balancing a busy career and two children, she maintains a blog full of beautiful photographs and well written recipes. While some of her dishes are a little complex for a weekday dinner, a search of her cupcake recipes will leave you breathless.

Food Porn Daily

If the title of this site doesn’t get you excited, the pictures certainly will! Food Porn Daily features a tantalizing new picture every day and gives you a link to the original blog post. This site will get you drooling on your keyboard (desirable) and is fun to click through when you’re looking for recipe ideas.

Nom Nom Paleo

Even more food porn! NomNomPaleo explains her blog as “a food blog first, and a Paleo blog second.” This means that anyone can appreciate the colorful, tempting meals she posts regardless of their personal diet. Her clear recipes feature organic ingredients, grass-fed beef, and tons of bright vegetables. She also sells t-shirts for those interested in Paleo, Crossfit, or adorable graphics.

Food Gawker

A look at Food Gawker’s main page will reveal a vast array of recipes to satisfy all diets. This blog is somewhat similar to Food Porn Daily in that it features recipes from many different different blogs. Looking to satisfy your sweet tooth after enjoying a vegan meal? To make a hearty winter stew followed by a cocktail? You’ll find plenty of options here for all courses.

Now you know a few of the sites I check regularly for new recipes and cooking inspiration. What are some of your favorite food blogs?

About Humble Foodie

While we both love to eat well, life as AmeriCorps volunteers doesn’t afford us the budget to try every new restaurant and type of cuisine. With many post-graduate expenses and limited financial resources, what’s a foodie to do? The answer is here, at The Humble Foodie. Instead of spending our hard-earned cash paying other people to cook for us, we’re spending as frugally as possible making delicious meals at home.
